I graduated from vocational training school on March 17, 2023. I worked hard for 1,400 hours.

I have successfully completed one year

of vocational training,

 

which ran from

April 8, 2022 to March 17, 2023.

 

I would like to leave you with my impressions

after completing 1400 hours of studying

National qualifications taken

May 2022: Passed the written exam for the second-class electrician

July 2022: Passed the practical exam for the second-class electrician

October 2022: Passed the written exam for the first-class electrician

November 2022: Passed the digital 2nd grade construction manager exam

December 2022: Passed the practical exam for the first-class electrician

February 2023: Passed the Class A 4th Class Fire Protection Equipment Engineer exam

 

After enrolling,

I first aimed to pass the written exam

for the second-class electrician certification.

 

I went from not knowing anything about

Ohm’s law to learning how to calculate three-phase circuits,

how to read blueprints, etc.

I crammed in new material like crazy,

and took the written exam in about 50 days.

 

I ended up passing with 82 points out of 100.

 

I practiced the practical part about 40 times

until the exam was held at the end of July.

  

 

The 13 practical assignments were announced in advance.

I did each assignment three times. I also attended a polytechnic for a short period,

practicing more than 10 times.

 

In June and July, my mind was full of thoughts about the practicals.

 

The electrical tools I had bought gradually became black with fingerprints,

so I practiced hard until they felt comfortable in my hands.

 

In the end, I passed on the first try!

 

I was so happy when I got

my Class 2 license at the end of September❗

It is a national qualification that can earn you over 500,000 yen a month.

In the summer, some people can earn as much as 100,000 yen a day.

It is a qualification that can be used not only for residential construction but also for repairing home appliances.

For me, it is a qualification that I would be able to use even if I resumed mail order sales.

I think it is a national qualification with excellent cost performance.

If I had obtained it before I started backpacking,

or when I was a university student,

my path might have been different.

I finished studying for the second type in three months.

In July, I started studying in earnest for the first type electrician’s written exam.

This is a qualification in the high-voltage field, such as buildings and factories.

The high-voltage drawings and calculations are a little complicated, but

I had the impression that it was not as difficult as I thought it would be.

From September, we prepared for the written exam by solving past exam questions for three hours every morning.

After the mock test,

everyone helped each other with things they didn’t understand,

corrected the small details,

and everyone started getting better and better scores.

As a result, 12 out of 13 people passed!

After that, I practiced for the Type 1 practical exam a total of 30 times

until the exam in December.

 

I drew the diagrams (double-line diagrams) for the exam over 100 times.

I think we practiced as much as we could.

In the end, 11 out of 12 people passed!

 

I was so happy when we received our certificates after the New Year.

After eight months of hardcore electrical engineering,

 

I have finally taken a break.

But the national exam is still on.

 

In February 2023,

I took the Fire Protection Equipment Engineer Class IV exam.

This was the most difficult exam.

Unlike the electrician exam,

the questions were not just reused from previous exams.

To be honest, I thought I might fail this one, but

 

I passed!

 

And so, I am now graduating.

This marks the end of my 1,400-hour training.

 

After graduating,

I was so exhausted that I couldn’t move at all.

 

I spent about a month cleaning and tidying up the house,

buying a motorbike and going on a trip.

I spent the time relaxing and recharged my batteries.

 

From now on,

I would like to continue working hard to obtain electrical qualifications.

 

The Chief Electrical Engineer exam

in particular is a much higher level of difficulty.

 

I would like to take the challenge in the near future!
